Photography Outing

Pin It I've driven by this area countless times. I've made mental notes telling myself to just go there. So a few days ago, I went! If you never visited the Indiana War Memorial, I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful, quiet area nestled just north of Monument Circle. The flag flies high, soldiers and veterans are honored. Fountains and statues and grand monuments decorate the promenade. Benches are placed every so often so you can relax, enjoy the view, and reflect on what a great country we live in. What a perfect place to take a stroll on a sunny day...especially with a camera! I devised a scavenger hunt of sorts to challenge myself and my fellow photography colleagues to search for details here, to carefully study the surroundings, and see something different. We focused on concepts such as line, color, shape, texture, pattern, symmetry, and more. Here are some of my favorites. Please leave a comment to let me know your favorite!

Whiskers, Daisies, and Stripes

Pin It Lola has been a little jealous lately that she has not been featured on the blog for awhile...so, Lola, here you go! I think she just wanted an excuse to be photographed for her upcoming 4th birthday...just a hunch!

I thought some flowers would give her something to focus on...

...and it worked like a charm!

One of my favorites of dear lil' Lola!

Reception: Cindi + John

I received a voicemail yesterday from her. Cindi just wanted to let me know that they arrived back home from their honeymoon, and that we should get together soon. Her simple and sweet message made me smile. Why, you ask? Well, I could tell by the tone of her voice, that carefree, happy tone, that she too had a big smile on her face while leaving the message. Aww, the pure bliss of being a newlywed, a honeymooner on cloud 9, a lucky girl in love...Cindi and John, I hope you had a fabulous honeymoon, and I can't wait to show you the rest of your photos! Until then, here are some more from your big day!

Cindi and John had such a lovely cake!

Despite the rainy day, the room had a wonderful glow.

Kristin, a dear friend of Cindi, made this room beautiful - she did all of the decor herself!

Rose petals, sea shells, and candlelight...simply beautiful!

Rain, reflections, and lace...love it!

Did I mention before that I absolutely loved Cindi's wedding dress?

And her veil! The lace and beading, plus Cindi's gorgeous smile...oh so beautiful!

Love birds!

Cheers!

Worldwide Photo Walk 2009

Pin It Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I enjoyed some time with my camera on Saturday morning as part of the Worldwide Photo Walk. The leader of our group chose the Canal downtown Indianapolis as our venue. So for two hours, we were on our own to find some photo opportunities. Each participant can submit 2 photos in hopes of winning prizes like brand new cameras, photography books, and more. Wish me luck! I'll be competing with hundreds of thousands of people from around the world, from Paris to New Zealand. Leave a comment with the titles of your favorites and help me decide which 2 photos I should submit before July 25th! Thank you for your help!
