Newborn: Mason

Meet Mason! Adorable Mason! When I photographed her, she was just 12 days old. She is such a sweetheart! As I arrived, she was waking up and preparing for her first official photo shoot. And did she work it out!!! She followed me and my lens with her baby blue eyes, yawned on command, and seemed mesmerized by the click, click, click of my shutter. Her parents, Sean and Kristen, are so proud of their new daughter, as are her grandparents and all of her relatives and friends. Are you ready for this little bundle of cuteness?

Mason is protected by Elbog, a sweet English chocolate lab, Bailey, the fluffiest white cat ever, and Meadow, seen here sharing some kitty kisses. Awww!

Daddy's little girl.

Look at these toes!!!

One of my many favorites.

Another favorite. This one puts a tear in my eye. What a happy family!

Congratulations, Sean and Kristen! You are already great parents! Mason, you are just adorable. See you soon!

I received a follow-up email that my photo is indeed being used for a guide of Key West! The scrolling photos appear in the upper right corner of the site. People using the guides can click on my photo and be taken to my site to see more! I'm very excited about this opportunity!

Another photo not previously posted with my other Key West photos.

I like the way the light was dancing on the water at the pier at sunset.

Thank you for all of your support and prayers on this!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

February 20, 2009

Today is my dad's birthday. Even though 30 years and 70-some miles separate us, I will always be his little girl. I am blessed to have a father who is sharp, witty, handy with a hammer, a wiz with numbers, thoughtful, generous, and much more. Little did we both know that we would share a similar passion for photography. I've never claimed to know it all, except when I was a teenager maybe, but I have learned that he's part of the reason why I'm doing what I'm doing now, and loving it! Over the years, my dad has had several cameras, mostly film, and now enjoys the ease (or lack thereof, at times!) of the digital age. Lately, he's been working on converting slides to digital files. And this weekend, we'll get to see the fruits of his labor. And we'll have cake!

Happy Birthday, Dad!
I love you!

Perfect way to start my day...

Pin It February 19, 2009

My wonderful husband got up early to make me a delicious breakfast for my birthday...French toast with strawberries and a side of crispy bacon (just the way I like it), and a hot cup of java. Now that's what I call perfect!

Thank you, Reggie! You are the best!
Not sure what's in store the rest of the day, but I do know we are going out for dinner this evening. Any suggestions?

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!

My husband and I took a quick road trip this weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day and to pick up a 1973 BMW 2002. It was two years ago on Valentine's Day when Reggie proposed. Oh my goodness, time flies! As I got in the car ready to hit the road, this beautiful cream rose was waiting for me in the front seat. Reggie said it reminded him of the roses in my wedding bouquet. How sweet! And, of course, I had to photograph it!

We have been to St. Louis before, a couple of years ago. Although it was cloudy and a bit windy on Valentine's Day, it was cool and sunny on Sunday. We enjoyed dinner downtown, not too far from our hotel, which overlooked the Arch. We had time for some photos of the famous Gateway Arch before it was time to head home on Sunday.

Here is the car that we picked up. Reggie removed some loose parts, especially the grille on the front, and stowed them safely in the trunk. We'll be able to use parts from this car to fix up our 1969 2002. More on that project in the coming months!

Thank you, Reggie, for a fun-filled Valentine's Day weekend! Love ya!

Under the Sea...in Indiana

Pin It February 2009

My dear friend Audrey asked me to take some photos of her husband's gorgeous 120 gallon saltwater tank. There are so many colorful fish, corals, and live rocks, it was really fun to capture them all! Audrey created a coffee table book for Phil's birthday using these images, as a tribute to his cool hobby. I've learned that it takes quite a bit of time and effort to keep this tank looking so beautiful. And careful consideration goes into selection and placement of each element. It truly is a piece of living art.

If I were a fish, I'd want to run my little fins through this soft green "grass"!

(No, this is not really grass!)

See, now this fish has the right idea!

These clown fish had their eyes on me.

A lovely yellow coral.

These fantastic creatures seemed rather intrigued by me and my camera.

See how many of them are looking this way?

A shrimp is hanging out on the upper right, while Nemo #1 and Nemo #2 stare me down.

(All names been changed to protect the privacy of these fish.)

I love the simplicity of just one little blue fish.

...somebody's watching me...again!

My favorite aspect of this project was how often the "scenery" changed!
Fish dart to and fro, corals sway from side to side.

This was one of my favorites to watch swim around - the hawkfish.

Hope you had a great birthday, Phil!

Audrey, what a wonderful idea, thank you so much for allowing me to help!

Exciting News!

I received an email last night from a company that publishes online travel guides for various cities and destinations around the world. This message informed me that my photo had been selected as a finalist for their Key West guide! If it is chosen for their publication, it will be seen by many people across the nation and around the world, with credit being given to me as the photographer. What an honor! This is very exciting news! I was able to accept or decline this opportunity. Of course, I happily (and eagerly) accepted!!! I'll keep you posted as I learn more.
