This old thing

Pin It Who knew an old typewriter could be so fun? I've been searching for one for some time, with the original idea to make jewelry from the keys (seen made by another jewelry artist a few years ago). A few weeks ago, Reggie and I took off on a Friday and visited the yard sales along US 40. After just a few stops on our journey, we happened to visit a smaller yard sale, when I spotted this...

After handing over $3, it was mine! What a deal!

This machine dates back to 1942, and it still works! It just needs a new ribbon. Since I don't really make jewelry anymore, I'm keeping it as a photo prop. So if you know of any writers who would like some portraits...;)

Here's one result of some time spent introducing this ol' typewriter to my camera.

Have a wonderful day!

Commercial: Chef Mike's Charcoal Grill

Pin It For years, a certain chef dreamed of opening his own restaurant. Everything would be cooked to culinary perfection...on a grill! Dreams do come true! And I am so happy to announce that Chef Mike's Charcoal Grill is officially open for business! Chef Mike Atherton is a Certified Executive Chef. He serves as a member of the American Culinary Federation, and was awarded Chef of the Year in Indianapolis. He's full of energy - he enjoys running, playing softball, and umpiring. And, of course, he is an awesome chef! In addition to all of this, he is a great family man. He is the father of one of my dearest friends, Audrey.

I had the honor to visit Chef Mike's Charcoal Grill just a few weeks ago. I must say the food is delicious! I had the Mini Burger from Hell. I highly recommend this mouth-watering delight. Bring on the jalapenos and Havarti cheese!

This restaurant was formerly Gallahads, and under Chef Mike's direction, has become a beautifully polished, family-friendly establishment. Great food, friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, what more could you ask for? Check out their website for all of the details, menus, daily specials, and more!

Lifestyle: Maddox and his Dad visit the Zoo

May 2009

Reggie and I had the pleasure of visiting the Indianapolis Zoo with Maddox and his Dad, Shannon, a few weeks ago. Shannon is a dear friend of ours, and his son is one of the sweetest little boys you could ever meet. Maddox is almost a year and a half old, and what a cutie he is! It was so fun to watch the wonder and excitement on his face as he saw the animals up close at the zoo for the first time. Thank you so much for letting me capture this day with you guys!

Meet Maddox!

A sweet moment between father and son. Precious!

Maddox points out the polar bear to his dad.
Oh yeah, his shirt was perfect - it said "lil' tour guide"!

Maddox's room has a zoo theme, complete with animal murals on the walls!

Maddox found the best seat in the house.

Holding on. Love this one!

Wonder.

Are you lookin' at me?

Did you know that you can pet sharks at the zoo?
I did pet a few...I think Maddox handled it better than I did!

So proud. My favorite of the day.

Thank you, Maddox and Shannon, for sharing your day with Reggie and me.
Can't wait to see you guys again soon!

These flowers were smashed a few weeks ago
with the storms and hail...they are still pretty though when you look at them more closely.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Pin It June 10, 2009

Happy Birthday to the sweetest Grandma anyone could ever ask for! She's sweet, smart, loving, funny, endearing, and so creatively talented. I have enjoyed many sleepovers at Grandma's house when I was little. We enjoyed playing cards, making crafts, swinging outside, shopping for Barbie dolls, having garage sales, bowling in the living room with my purple Popple as our ball and plastic cups as the pins, and staying up late laughing. Grandma, I wish you a very Happy Birthday, and can't wait to see you! Reggie and Lola send their love too. In fact, Lola was so kind as to let me take a few photos of her, just for you!

Lola is an indoor cat, but some times she gets the courage to join us on our deck. Here I was behind her, and I stepped on some leaves, which startled her. Sorry, Lola!

Happy Birthday, Grandma! Love you more!

Engaged: Liliana + Matt

Pin It May 23, 2009
Indianapolis, IN

He was working at a well-known Mexican eatery when one day this beautiful woman walked through the door. In his own words, Matt said he developed an instant crush. Maybe it was her beautiful brown eyes, her bright smile, her infectious laugh. She was Liliana. And she fell for him too. The stars aligned for these two, who both love life. In just a little over a week, Liliana and Matt will be tying the knot. And I will be one of the lucky people to witness their special day! We spent an afternoon visiting different spots around the city for their engagement session. Despite the heat and humidity, these two worked it out! I had a blast, and am so excited for their wedding on June 13th. Liliana and Matt, I've really enjoyed getting to know you. What a fun and fabulous couple you are, and I wish you all the happiness in the world. And now for your engagement photos!

A favorite.

Remember Matt's instant crush?

Ahh...romance...

Liliana, you're beautiful!

Matt and Liliana were laughing or smiling the entire day. Works for me!

Matt, the gentleman.

Matt, the humorous gentleman.

Another favorite. Yes, I'm allowed to have more than one! ;)

Another favorite.

Liliana and Matt, thank you so much for allowing me to capture such a special time in your lives!

Can't wait for your Big Day! See you soon!
