I *heart* Palm Trees!

Pin It There's just something about palm trees that I love!  Maybe it's because seeing one usually means I'm somewhere warm, sunny, tropical, beautiful...perhaps on a vacation, perhaps sipping a pina colada. There are many different types of palm trees.  In fact, I learned that Florida is home to 27 varieties of this natural beauty; however, only 12 of the 27 are native to Florida.  (Source: Answers.com) No matter how many types there are, I'm a fan of them all.  Here are a few more photos from Florida, featuring...you guessed it, palm trees!

I loved the shadows in the street these palms created as we rode on the scooter in Key West.
And check out the ones in the rear view mirror!  I wish I could say I planned that! ;)

They even look cool from underneath!

Palm trees can make a fun background for cute little seagulls too.

Printed! Photo by Stephanie Stewart

Pin It Remember my earlier post about this photo?  Well, awhile back, I found out that my photo would be used in Chateau Thomas Winery's upcoming marketing campaign to announce their 2010 event schedule.  My parents were in town a couple of weeks ago, and so we decided to take a little trip to Chateau Thomas Winery to see what they designed.  We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who promptly showed us this:

I was beyond thrilled! I think I even squealed a little! One of my photos had been printed for all of their customers to see!  And perhaps they have it on their refrigerator at home now too!  Ok, that might be a long shot, but I digress...

Words cannot express how humbled, thankful, and excited I am about this opportunity!
These post cards were also placed on tables in their store so that patrons can see it while sampling their fabulous wines.  Check out www.chateauthomas.com for all of their upcoming events!

Again, I cannot explain how honored I feel! I am truly blessed...and it's something like this that drives me to keep working hard, that keeps me so passionate about what I do.  Thank you for allowing me to share this with all of you.  Have a fantastic weekend!Pin It

Reggie's Mom has this lovely botanical on her front porch...I believe this is a Bromeliad.
It's tropical, it's ornate, and it's pink!

Sisters: Avery + Piper

Pin It I was beyond excited when Lindsay contacted me to do some special portraits of her beautiful daughters!  After all, I was thrilled to work with them last fall and the previous year with their tremendously fun family.  I love smiling, happy families, and this one is definitely one of them!  As I was saying, Lindsay asked me to capture these two sisters to celebrate their birthdays.  Avery is now 5 years old, and her younger sis, Piper, is two.  Avery is enthusiastic, energetic, and loves to have fun.   Piper is pensive, curious, and loves to explore her surroundings.  They are both sweet, adorable, and know how to work it out for the camera!  I just love seeing how they've grown since our last session, and I am incredibly excited to share the following images from their session (check out their Sneak Peek too!).  Lindsay asked for something fun and creative, and I've been wanting to do this more stylized, vintage, dress-up theme for quite some time, and she loved the idea.  So, we made it happen!  Without further adieu, please welcome Avery and Piper!

Such a perfect smile!

See, I told you Piper is pensive!  Love this!

These girls totally rocked their accessories!

A favorite!

Piper, you are beautiful!

And, Avery, you are just a doll!

I can't get over those gorgeous eyes!

Can these sisters be any more amazing?!

Avery + Vintage lace curtains + Sunshine = Perfection

Piper and her reflection wait patiently for spring...

You two are just fabulous!

So sweet!

One of my favorite images of all time!

Avery and Piper, I hope you had a fun time, I know I did!  And I learned a few things, like the Statue of Liberty pose and some other tricks. ;)  You are both so sweet and so beautiful, and I hope you both had fantastically Happy Birthdays!  See you soon!Pin It

Newborn: Colin Robert: 19 days

Pin It I'm so happy to introduce another sweet newborn on my blog! You may recall Kristen and Nick's maternity session from a few months ago. (And feel free to take a peek at images from their rehearsal dinner and wedding as well.) These new, proud parents and their family have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this adorable baby boy...so please allow me to officially introduce Colin Robert! (If you missed Colin's Sneak Peek, click here!) I also asked Colin's parents some questions about how their lives have changed since his arrival.
Hi, Colin!
He was so curious about me and my little black noise-making box.

Arrival: February 3, 2010, 12:17pm, 7 pounds 14 ounces...
and 21.5 inches!

Favorite!

stewart imagery: What do you always want to remember from the day that Colin was born?
Nick + Kristen: The unexpected pure joy of becoming a family and realizing that our son was just born!

Colin was wide-awake and curious as to what was going on
for the first half of his session. Look at those eyes!

stewart imagery: Share a funny story about your first few days at home with Colin!
Nick + Kristen: Colin's first 'cold-air' pee! Watch out!

stewart imagery: What has been the best tips/advice from family or friends in helping care for a newborn?
Nick + Kristen: The sleeplessness is temporary, the joy of being a parent lasts forever.

stewart imagery: Who do you think Colin resembles most? Does it change from day to day?
Nick + Kristen: Colin resembles Colin. He is his own little person. He does have his dad's long, lanky arms and legs. And he has his grandpa's (1) dimple. Whether he has his mom's red hair is yet to be determined!

stewart imagery: How does it feel to be a parent? What do you enjoy most?
Nick + Kristen: Exciting. Fun. Overwhelming. Knowing that we get to raise our son. And love him. And care for him.

So precious! Another favorite!

stewart imagery: How has baby Colin changed your outlook on life?
Nick + Kristen: There are things in life so much bigger and more important than you ever thought possible.

"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller,
home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for."

Nick and Kristen, thank you so much for the honor of capturing this exciting time in your lives! Colin is absolutely perfect! I cannot wait to watch him grow up! See you soon!

Lifestyle: Tracy & Frangipani Body Products

Pin It Tracy and I met in college at IU-Bloomington, and have been great friends ever since. After discovering that our workplaces were less than a mile apart, we would meet for lunch and talk about our lives, our '9-5', and other happenings. We soon discovered that we shared something else in common...we both yearned for more out of our career, to doing something that we truly enjoyed, to create something all our own that would have meaning and a positive impact on others. We would toss various ideas back and forth, most of them sounding silly to our own ears as soon as the words were uttered. Tracy had come up with something. Something good, something promising, something real. I remember the spark in her eyes and the sheer excitement in her voice as she told me what that something was. I'm very pleased to introduce Frangipani Body Products! And I was so honored when she asked me to photograph her line of products! We got together for some portraits, and I asked her a few questions about Frangipani and running her own business. Check out Tracy's Lifestyle Session!

Meet Tracy!
My dear friend, the one with the chair. She's got even more style...check out her living room!
I've been very excited to do her portraits...see why?

And "the chair"! Tracy, you are beautiful, inside and out! I love this one!

stewart imagery: Why & how did you start Frangipani? What were some of the influences that inspired you to create your products?

Tracy: I started Frangipani after suffering from a combination of sensitive, acne-prone skin with rosacea. I was so frustrated with the products on the market I started reading and created my own products. It wasn't long before I started noticing a real difference in my skin and decided to create the whole line!

stewart imagery: What is your favorite thing/best part about having your own business?

Tracy: Since graduating from college, I had a very structured job. Long hours that were sometimes completely out of my control. It was an adjustment at first but I have really started to enjoy having the freedom to work when I want. If I want to take the afternoon off, I can. It might mean I work that night but at least I have the choice! Having your own business is really rewarding as well. All of the successes are so much sweeter!

stewart imagery: What words of advice can you share that may help someone go for their dream? What was the best advice you have been given?

Tracy: Wow. What a hard question! It is so scary to go after your dream! I consider myself lucky for being given the opportunity to work on Frangipani full time. I guess I would tell people to remember life is short. Do what you love. The best advice I have been given is to remember what your contribution should be to your company. Early on, I thought I could build my own website. I had built them years before and thought it would be like riding a bike. It wasn't! My friend told me to remember that my commitment to Frangipani should be through the product line, not the website. I could pay someone to build the website. I couldn't pay someone to develop the products. So that is what I did and my time was spent in a much wiser way.

Tracy loves to laugh! When she laughs, it's just contagious, and this is SO her. Favorite!

stewart imagery: What is your favorite Frangipani product and why?

Tracy: I think that is a toss up. The Protective Serum is my favorite because it was my first product. It helped heal my rosacea flare-ups and convinced me that oil was actually good for my skin. The Shea Butter Softening Lotion is my other favorite because I tried MANY different versions before I got to the final product. It was a labor of love and I was so happy when I finally created something so wonderful!

The Environment Triple Set for Oily Skin contains Tracy's favorite products!

After doing some indoor portraits, Tracy had suggested we go play in the snow...
what a perfect idea!

stewart imagery: What would you like for people to know about Frangipani?

Tracy: Frangipani is all about peaceful, natural skin care. There are no chemicals or synthetics, just pure plant-based ingredients. You can buy everything online or local to Indianapolis at Georgetown Market, Just Hair, and Nature's Pharm with retail outlets expanding every day!

Tracy has a beautiful cat named Sophie. I snapped this of Sophie, and showed it to Tracy on the back of my camera: "That is SO Sophie!"

Workin' it in the snow! You rock, Tracy!

Sophie, dahhhling, I just love your expression.

Gearing up...

...for a snowball fight! Work and play all in the same day made both of us happy!
By the way, don't you just love her scarf and gloves?

Tracy, I am so happy and excited for you! You are reaching for the stars with your dream, and I couldn't be more proud of you! You are an inspiration to me and to so many others, and for that, I can't thank you enough. And thank you so much for totally rocking your session, both indoors and braving the cold, it was well worth it and TONS of fun!
