The Lucky One

Happy (belated!) Mother's Day to all moms, moms-to-be, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, all those who serve as a mother to someone in this world, and those we remember in our hearts!  You are the best!  And I hope you got to spend some time with those you love!

We traveled to my parents' house to visit with my Grandma and my Uncle Mike, who traveled from Florida to spend time with his Mom!  It was so fun!  We enjoyed a delicious lunch with our family's favorite pizza (Pizza King!), salad, breadsticks, and a carrot cake that I baked for dessert.  We took Lucy along as well, and she enjoyed playing with Uncle Mike!  I had also packed my camera to get a few snapshots of our day.

Remington with his Great Uncle Mike!

Me and my sweet Mom!

Remington loves cars and anything with wheels, so when he sat down to spin the wheel on this, I couldn't resist!

Love his little curls!
When we found out we were pregnant, I prayed that my child
would be blessed with Reggie's curly/wavy hair!

Some raindrops had started to fall, however, this little guy didn't feel like going inside.

My mom snapped this photo of me and my son, and I love it!  We had to take several, as he was twisting and squirming in my arms to get down and run barefoot through the wet grass.

Grandma and her grandson!

We walked around the yard in the golden glow of the evening.  My parents have a gigantic lilac bush, which smelled so amazingly wonderful!  I love Remington's little scrunchy face when we asked him to smell the flowers!  Ha!

Little did I know that being a parent could bring such immense joy.  This precious gift makes me smile, makes me laugh, and reminds me to live in the moment, as much as possible, each and every day.
And for that, I'll be eternally grateful.
I love you, my sweet Remington!  On this Mother's Day, I truly felt like I was the lucky one. Thank you for your sweet hugs and kisses and the way you make me melt when you call me your mama.

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm officially celebrating my first Mother's Day this weekend, and I'm so excited!  A year ago this weekend, we were getting ready host a dinner to announce our little one's gender to our family and friends, when we had to adjust everything due to a house fire.  I'm happy to say that this May has been great so far!  I cannot believe it has been a year since first hearing that our little baby was going to be a boy!  And now he is almost 8 months old...which reminds me I need to take some photos and post some as well!  This week, my Mom came to watch Remington while I was on-location for a portrait session.  She brought me some lovely lilacs from my childhood home!  Their sweet fragrance filled the room.  Remington has been smiling at the blooms, and I just wonder what he thinks as we both smell them in their vase on the counter top.  He gently closes his eyes and smiles to himself, it is the sweetest thing!  Then he grabs for the petals with a wide-mouth grin and squeal!  Fleeting moments like this are what I always want to remember.  Becoming a mom has been such a gift, if only for moments just like this one.  I am truly blessed with a sweet son, an amazing hubby, and awesome family and friends.

To my Mom...Thank you so much for this life you (and Dad!) have given to me.  I am so blessed to have grown up in a warm home with such a sweet, generous, loving mother.  I hope I can be half as wonderful to Remington.  I love you so much!

And to my mother-in-law, Patti!  I continue to love your handsome son more and more each day.  Reggie is so great with Remington, a true reflection of your love for him.  Watching the two of them play and snuggle melts my heart.  I miss you so much and can't wait to see you!

Happy (early) Mother's Day!

Pin It Of all the holidays we celebrate, Mother's Day is one of the most important.  Mothers bring new life into this world, they nurture and love, with all their heart and with all their being.  They heal scratched knees, hug us when we need it most, and cheer us on all the way.  This describes my Mom perfectly, and I am so grateful!  Mom, I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day, and can't wait to spend the day with you! And to my wonderful Mother-in-Law, I love you and hope to see you soon!

I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite images of mothers.  I love capturing that sparkle in their eyes, the smiles, the hugs, that incredible human connection between people who love each other so deeply that it's beyond measure.

Paula hands her son Mitchell more bubbles just in the nick of time!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers, Moms-to-be, Grandmothers, Godmothers,
and anyone who is or has been a Mother to someone, in some way.

We took my parents to visit the IMA gardens. It was a lovely day with the aroma of all the different varieties of plants and flowers wafting throughout the pathways. Mom, here are some images from our day. Love you! xo
